The State Civil Service Commission was created by an act of the State Legislature of 1905 (chapter 363). It was succeeded by the Bureau of Personnel (WIHV88-A116) as a result of 1929 legislative action (chapter 465). The commission administered the state's classified civil service system, including such responsibilities as examining and certifying candidates for state employment and classifying positions.
